The mission of Luke and Sarah DeBoer is to help provide leadership to the U.S. Navigators Collegiate Missions initiatives, including the mobilizing of students and staff to advance the Gospel around the world.
Luke grew up regularly attending church, and graduated High School from Adel-Desoto-Minburn. It was while Luke was a freshman at Iowa State that he first understood that there was a difference between knowing about God and knowing God personally. After being helped by The Navigators as a student, upon graduation with a degree in Animal Ecology in 2004, he joined their staff at Iowa State University. In 2010 he moved to Kearney to lead the campus work at the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Sarah came to Christ at a young age, and grew up in Christ Community Church since second grade. Upon graduating with a degree in Elementary Education in 2003, she spent 2 ½ years serving with The Navigators in Japan, seeking to bring the gospel to Japanese college students. Returning to the US in 2006, she met Luke while on staff together with Navs ISU. It was love at first sight – for Luke. Eventually the affection became mutual and they tied the knot at the end of 2010. In Kearney her role transitioned from full-time on campus to full-time mom.
In the summer of 2016, Luke, Sarah and their three children transitioned to The Navigators headquarters in Colorado Springs. Luke will focus on mobilizing staff, students and recent grads across the US to GO and take the gospel to the world. Sarah, while being a full-time mom, will likely shepherd women leaving, serving, and returning from overseas ministry as she is able.
Luke and Sarah have three children, Zoe, John and Eleanora.
