Run the Race Well

Christ Community Church   -

Let Us Run
GETTING STARTED

Share about a race that you ran that stuck out to you, either as a kid or an adult. What made it memorable? (If you can’t think of one, you can borrow one from the Olympics, a movie, or someone else’s race.)
Who in your life has been the greatest witness for you of how to run the Christian race, and why?

DIGGING INTO THE WORD

Look at the list of men and women found in Hebrews 11 and speed-read through their stories. Who sticks out to you and why?
What weaknesses do you see represented there? Is that comforting to you or not? Why or why not?
What are some examples of things that can hinder us in our race, but are not necessarily a blatant sin (Heb. 12:1)? Is there an example that you have discerned that is distracting you or slowing you down?
Do you ever struggle with walking closely with the Lord toward the end of the day, when fatigue often settles in? Turn to Gal. 5:22-23 and read through the list of the fruit of the Spirit. Which one might help you the most as you end your daily race?
What do you envision yourself doing in retirement some day? How do 1 Corinthians 10:31 and Matthew 6:33 inform your thinking?
What does it mean that Jesus “endured the cross, despising the shame?” (Heb. 12:2)
Gazing at Jesus is our greatest encouragement in running the Christian race well. What truth about or attribute of Christ mean the most to you and why?
Who is someone that you know who is running toward the wrong finish line? What could be a next step for you as you consider how to point them in the right direction?

FINAL APPLICATION

A storm-strong family is made up of storm-strong individuals. As you run the race, what one change to your life would make the biggest difference in your life personally, and for your family?

ENDING WELL IN PRAYER

Pray for the Senior High youth as they seek to serve and share the gospel in Mexico this week. Pray also that you and others could encourage them when they return by asking them good questions and being interested in what they share.
